Educational Travel Tour Leader Jobs
American companies centred around adventure and educational travel for high school and middle school students are beginning their recruitment for tour leaders and counsellors for next summer.
With destinations around the world trips for teenagers and young adults are orientated towards either culture and languages or adventure activities. Some companies specialise in one more than the other.
Travel for Teens describe a typical leader as a problem solving role model. They should be a team player fluent in English and proficient in another. Experienced working with youth, passionate about travel and cultural learning and with physical and mental stamina. Leaders should also have a willingness to work unusual hours with limited time off.
Trip leaders can expect a small wage, based on seniority and qualifications, travel to and from the destination and accommodation and board while in-country. Most staff are Americans but other nationalities are also represented in the ranks of the companies listed below.
Travel for Teens
Travel for Teens has designed its programmes to engender a love for travel, hunger for learning, and a curiosity about differences. Trips in the past have included adventure and Spanish in Costa Rica, Classic Italy, Berlin, Paris and London, and China Discover. Potential trip leaders and counsellors must be over 21 years old and able to commit to at least two summers. They draw their staff from a worldwide pool but applicants must be fluent in English.

Wilderness Adventures
As the name suggests, Wilderness Adventures falls more into the adventure category. Their activities include mountain climbs, rock climbing, sea kayaking, whitewater rafting and kayaking, ice climbing, canyoneering, sailing, snorkelling, SCUBA diving and trekking. Experience in these activities is helpful, but not required. Other leader responsibilities include supervision of meal planning, keeping a daily expedition journal, managing trip funds, and organising activities and games in the evening. WA begin recruiting at the beginning of October. Applicants should have a Wilderness First Responder certificate and be 21 by the beginning of the trip in June.
