It may not be quite time to be heading to the island’s resorts yet but head there you should if you want to spend this summer working in Ibiza.
Ibiza Spotlight, who have been writing guides to Ibiza for well over 20 years, say “it is almost impossible to find first-time work on Ibiza without being on the island. This means you have to fly down here to look in person!”
Here’s their take on the best options for finding work in Ibiza and when is the best time to book a plane ticket, a couple of weeks’ accommodation, and start hunting down work.
Bars and restaurants
With over four million of them heading to the island every year, anything involved in getting food and drink into tourists is going to need a pair of hands to cook, pour, serve, and clean the millions of plates and glasses used over the course of the season. Staff turnover is high for restaurant and bar work so don’t despair if, on getting down there to put yourself about at the end of April, your initial efforts to land a job falls flat.
PRing for bars and clubs and selling ticket for parties
The number of PR jobs has fallen recently due to laws restricting how many can be employed by a bar or club. If you have ever been on holiday and wearily collected a tree of offers and enticements you may think this is a good thing, but we are on the side of the hunter not the hunted today.
If you are young and sociable, go around each of the clubs and bars when the party season starts at the beginning of June. Tickets sellers, either from ticket booths or loose in your territory bringing tourists to the booths, have a similar skill set but added to that should be a hunger for money, especially if the job is on commission.
Hotels
This search can be done before the season starts. Ibiza Spotlight’s advice is to phone them up in March and April to ask if there are any vacant positions. We suggest running the hotels in their guide through Google or Facebook to get the phone numbers. Plan B is to arrive in situ in May and ask around.
Sports and the beach
Qualified instructors for the many diving centres, surf, sailing and other watersports schools have the luxury of applying online. Also, check out other activity centres on the land who offer guided tours on wheels such as cycle, scooter, ebike or quad excursions.
Dancers and performers
Every nightclub, big or small, needs dancers, as well as eccentric performers and animators for some of the more theatrical events, such as the famed elrow. Talent is the most appropriate qualification and scouts are out there looking.

One last piece of advice from us is no one goes to work in Ibiza for the money. Save up enough money before you go to pay for accommodation for the season. Keep your wages for having a good time.
