Teaching Assistants Needed in India

INDIA / Kaya Responsible Travel

On our Teaching and Community Support programme, volunteers will have the opportunity to enhance individual students learning and personal development through English and Maths classes and by working on and increasing their creativity. Support is also needed in the quest to produce low cost teaching materials, and in attending to both slow learners, and school drop outs. Volunteers are an essential tool for promoting a good and solid education whilst increasing India’s children’s future prospects.

Mother Teresa once said: “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love” and this is exactly what we are asking from volunteers for our Teaching and Community Support Project. Throughout India, there are underprivileged children who are seeking extra educational support, one-on-one attention and help with their own personal development and growth. Staff are often overrun with duties and volunteers are needed to ease this burden as well as providing their own warmth and care to the wonderful children of India. Teach, develop, care, love and most importantly, give back to India.

Teaching will be the main component of this project, however there may also be an element of child care, developmental work and one-to-one support for other groups of underprivileged children. For the teaching project, your duties may include: regularly teaching English and Maths in a school setting, teaching children of migrant and child labour communities, conducting bridge courses for child drop outs or children who are slower learners, creating a playful environment to enhance learning and creativity, helping to develop low cost teaching materials with local teachers, creating basic hygiene awareness amongst children, ensuring regular health check-ups of children in schools.
