INDIA / Shergarh Tented Camp – Kanha Tiger Reserve
We require a primary trained teacher (or an experienced classroom assistant/ one-to-one tutor) to help tutor our children through Year 2 and Year 4 material that is broadly based on the UK National Curriculum. We are a young family, based at our wildlife lodge in a tiger reserve in central India. Our children have been educated and privately tutored in a home-school setting over the past few years.
All primary subjects are covered, and topics are presented to both the children simultaneously, while activities are adapted to their respective levels. Access to the internet is limited, so this post will suit a candidate who is ready to plan lessons creatively, drawing on limited resources but inspired by the natural surroundings. Any additional musical or artistic skills would be welcomed. The post also involves working on a project with our village school which is extremely basic.
Board and lodging is included; the tutor will have their own rustic bedroom and bathroom at the lodge, and meals are shared with guests who come from all over the world. There will be regular opportunities to go out on safari with our in-house naturalists.
A visit to our website www.shergarh.com will give an idea of the setting. We offer a small remuneration and cover internal travel. The post will suit a candidate who enjoys nature and the outdoors, photography or working alongside rural communities. It is an ideal opportunity to combine working in a fabulous location, with gaining experience on one-to-one tutoring, working independently at a rural school and taking short breaks to explore the surrounding area.
We are looking for either one candidate to start in Oct ’13 for 6 months, or 2 candidates from Oct-Dec’13 and Jan-Mar ’14.
Please write to us at katie@shergarh.com if you are interested in finding out more about the post.
Expires: July 30, 2013
