MALAWI / Krizevac Project
The Krizevac Project began 10 years ago by simply placing a large cross on a mountain near Chilomoni, Blantyre, Malawi. Now the township around the base of the mountain is being transformed through the creation of a number of enterprises which include everything from brick making to computer and plant rental.
We are now seeking a joyful volunteer to help operate a new Land Rover workshop and train a team of Malawian mechanics to run the workshop beyond the lifetime of this position. The workshop is fully equipped to repair and maintain vehicles sent from the UK (mainly ex-MOD). Once road worthy and suited for purpose the Land Rovers will become part of a rental business, designed as a not-for-profit enterprise, creating local Malawi employment and incomes.
Our ideal candidate will be a real Land Rover enthusiast, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Land Rover repair, you’ll know all there is to know about keeping vehicles in tip-top condition. But perhaps more importantly you will be an intuitive teacher, able to pass on your skills to a team of local mechanics and to set up systems and procedures to ensure that all vehicles are serviced on a regular basis. This can be tricky when spares often need to be imported, so you’ll need to be a thorough planner and resourceful problem solver.
