Grassroots Volunteering in Ghana
The organisations listed below have either got in touch with us to add their details to this or another of our websites, or we otherwise have reason to believe they are actively looking for international volunteers and charge reasonable or no fees to join in, live and work with them:
Atlas Volunteers

Atlas was set up to remove the business element out of volunteering which the founders experienced first hand on their own volunteer trips to Ghana. Education placements are made in school or kindergarten teaching and support, or arranging reading clubs across different classes and schools to enhance the children’s English language and reading skills. Volunteers can also participate in sport focused programmes or in renovation, construction and painting. Bookings are made through Volunteer World’s website.
Where: Various locations around the country.
Accommodation & Costs: Fees range from £326 to £2040 for eight to 50 weeks. Accommodation is provided.
RVO Services Organization

Since 2003, more than 500 volunteers have participated in RVO programmes. Fields include teaching, healthcare, conservation and sports coaching. Please note RVO arrange short term orphanage placements which we do not support. They also offer internships in subjects including law, journalism and business.
Where: Accra, Kumasi , Ho, Tamale, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Nkwakwa, Koforidua, Winneba.
Accommodation & Costs: Fees start at $275 for one week and $100 per week thereafter for volunteer programmes, $275/$170 for internships, covering host family accommodation, meals and a few other incidentals such as airport transfer.
