Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read our post.
We are a couple renovating a large, 17th century stone house with an attached cottage and barn in France.
We are in Limousin region in the South West of France, approximately 40 minutes from Limoges airport or 5 ½ hours drive from the ferry port in Caen. The house is in a quiet hamlet in the commune of Cheronnac, near Rochechuart.
The Limousin is a beautiful region of still lakes, fast flowing streams, gentle rolling valleys and forested mountains and has been one of the best kept secrets in France. From the lovely old city of Limoges to the tiny hamlets scattered across the hills and forests, and the pure rivers and lakes, discover the friendliness and old world charm of one of the last remaining havens of the “real France”. 350 Kilometres south of Paris, the region is the traditional heartland of France. And one of the lowest populated regions in France, the Limousin has largely escaped the onward march of “progress” and retains some of the most unspoilt countryside in Europe.
The Limousin is also known as ‘the land of a thousand lakes’ and wherever you are in the region there will be one close by. Most are bathing lakes with clear, clean water and often with sandy beaches which range in size from quiet spots for a picnic or swim to those with a whole range of water sports facilities. In addition, the area is perfect for walking, fishing and cycling and is complete with castles, museums, local festivals, bars and restaurants
We are looking for people for help with renovating, joinery, building and all general renovation work including clearing the house and some work in the grounds
Current projects:
General renovation including taking up and relaying floors
Preparing and painting walls, windows, shutters, etc.
Removal of existing render on the main building and repointing.
Electrical, plumbing and joinery work.
Laying a patio, establishing a vegetable garden etc
No experience is necessary but would be an advantage.
In return for working 6hrs per day, 5 days in the week, we will provide home cooked meals, drinks, and wine with the evening meals. Accommodation will be camping in our grounds so you will need to bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc
We are planning two weeks in June 2013 with the possibility of a second working holidaylater that Summer. Places are limited so book your place early.
