Production Supervisor – Documentary Instructor

Actuality Media conducts service learning documentary programs connecting emerging filmmakers and changemakers in order to tell stories that matter. Each year we select new locations and subjects for short documentary films. Actuality Media is hiring on a contract basis a Documentary Instructor to co-lead the program in a succession of three countries – Bolivia, El Salvador and Tanzania.

Primary Duties: Supervise 12-15 University-level students in San Marcos, Guatemala and Lusaka, Zambia, in producing short documentary films about local changemakers; Teach multiple Actuality Media curriculum modules including visual storytelling and documentary production; lead workshops including Lighting, Sound, and a practice-shoot that will produce a microdocumentary; Review curriculum online with Actuality Media staff ahead of program travel.

Required Qualifications: Degree with a focus in Documentary or equivalent experience; experience teaching with demonstrable effectiveness in the form of reviews or recommendations; experience traveling and/or working in developing countries.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in creating social impact documentaries; a preference for visual storytelling; Spanish language ability.
Salary and Benefits: Instructor will be paid a flat fee of $4000 for the duration of the contract, paid in increments. All official travel expenses to, from and within locations will be covered as well as housing for the duration of the contract.
