BOLIVIA / Kaya Responsible Travel
Volunteer in Bolivia and help to sustain the beautiful Botanical Gardens of Cochabamba. The Botanical Gardens were founded over 15 years ago, and boasts 4 hectares of native Bolivian and South American plants. Although modest in size, the gardens shelter a very interesting and diverse collection. Since it was first founded, the Botanical Gardens have become a place of huge diversity housing vegetation from all over Bolivia. The Gardens itself are supported by local organizations, the Society of Natural History and the local University; all in an effort to preserve and prolong Bolivia’s Green Heritage.
There are a number of different activities to get involved with while helping out at the Botanical Gardens. Your days will be varied and busy with a number of garden related duties to become really involved with. These duties include helping in the maintenance of the gardens, to help prune and shape the trees, to work on the processes of vegetative propagation, to be a guide to tourists and local visitors, to work on the natural composting area and to sometimes help in the administrative and promotional work at the offices.
