Anglo-Hellenic Teacher Recruitment – Anglo-Hellenic Teacher Recruitment is the foremost agency for English teachers in Greece, providing employment, training and support.

AthenStyle – EU nationals can find paid work for €25 a shift but travellers on non-EU passports can earn themselves a bed and breakfast, plus half price on other meals and two for one beers in exchange for 24 hours’ work a week. Previous housekeeping or hostel work experience needed along with a reference.

Hotel Porto Loutro – Small Greek/English family run beach hotel on the south coast of Crete. Chambermaid and bar staff required for the summer season.

Kardamena Watersports Center – Have indicated that they may be interested in employing summer seasonal workers in Greece with some qualifications in water sports activities.

Kidsingreece – In the winter these guys find childcare staff for families in the Alps. For summer, the focus switches to resorts across Greece.

Kyllini Beach Resort – A 310 room four star hotel in the west Peloponnese. Jobs include childcare, dance and fitness instruction, and reception.

Olympic Holidays – Largest specialist tour operator from the UK to Greece and Cyprus.

One Stop Entertainment – Places entertainment staff with hotels and events in Cyprus.

Picasso Mexican Bistro – Experienced restaurant staff with EU passports often wanted in Naxos.

Porto Zante – Luxury resort and spa. No employment information but they do recruit waitresses and room service waitresses aged up to 30 with a good knowledge of English. Italian and Russian language skills would be useful.

Sagittarius Restaurant – While there are no employment details on the website, this restaurant and apartment in Tingaki, Kos, has been known to recruit on the i-net for a waiter to work from May to October. A good knowledge of English and some Italian and German skills required. Greek national preferred.

Sailing Holidays Ltd – Experienced flotilla skippers capable of looking after a fleet of about ten boats are employed in Greece. No employment information on the website.

Seahorse International Yacht Brokers – Chartered yachts. They had around 50 boats on offer when we looked, each employing at least a skipper.

Unpaid Positions & Adventure

American Farm School – The American Farm School Greek Summer programme offers high school students a cultural experience abroad that includes living with a Greek village family, community service work, and exploration of Greece’s historic sites and natural beauty. Those from outside of the US are welcome to join the programme.

ARCHELON – The Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece is an environmental NGO welcoming enthusiastic and committed volunteers to assist with its activities. Volunteers are invited to work on the island of Zakynthos, in Peloponnesus, and Crete. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in the daily treatment of sea turtles that usually bear injuries as a result of their accidental capture in fishing gear and help with the raising of public awareness among the public and maintenance of the centre’s facilities. Field work takes place between mid May and mid October but the rescue centre is open all year.

Archipelagos – The Institute of Marine and Environmental Research of the Agean Sea offers the opportunity for recent graduates and students to acquire practical experience in conservation work. Placement duration is between three to 12 months in Archipelagos’ research bases on islands in the eastern Aegean Sea.

ARCTUROS – Founded in 1992 to put an end ‘dancing bears’ ARCTUROS welcomes assistance, either independently or through the European Voluntary Service programme. Volunteers can work at the environmental centre, help raise public awareness or take part in field work activities.

The Comfy Hostel Studios – Corfu hostel that may take on work exchange volunteers to help with cleaning and reception during the peak season.

Donkey Sanctuary Cyprus – Providing life care to donkeys and mules. Volunteers from abroad who want to have a working holiday are welcome to offer extra help to the sanctuary.

Earth, Sea and Sky – Aims to reverse the deterioration of the wildlife habitat within the area of Zakynthos designated as a National Marine Park. Volunteers work as a small team to research and record the affects of tourism on the local environment, provide information on the local flora and fauna to visitors, rescue injured animals and participate in beach and forest clean ups.

ELIX – Conservation Volunteers Greece – An NGO that organises international voluntary work programmes and youth exchange. Summer workcamps take place in Greece from June to September.

Hellenic Wildlife Hospital – The HWH undertakes many tasks involved with the care and protection of bird life in Greece. They have cleaning, feeding and maintenance tasks waiting for volunteers who take the hour and a half ferry ride from Piraeus to Aigina Island. Accommodation is provided but volunteers pay their own costs.

Hostel Arabas – Volunteers are expected to work under five hours a day making the guests of this Thessaloniki hostel feel cozy and comfortable. Tasks include doing the shopping and keeping things tidy. Stay over a week and one meal a day is also added to the deal.

InGlobe – Summer jobs and learning programmes in Greece and Cyprus.

Kalikalos – Offering holistic holidays in Greece, Kalikalos welcome volunteers to help out around the centre and on an organic farm. They offer food and accommodation, usually in a tent or yurt, from as little as a couple of weeks to five or six months on a work exchange basis. Staff members put in up to 30 hours of work per week, get one full day off each week and generally can count on a couple of hours on the beach or time to themselves daily.

Katelios Group – The Katelios Group is a a small organisation working to protect the natural environment of Kefalonia focusing on the conservation of the endangered Loggerhead sea turtle. Volunteers are welcome to help out between May and October.

Lesbian Wildlife Hospital – A small non profit organisation on the island of Lesbos that aims to give first aid to domestic and wild animals. They welcome any useful help.

Marine Turtle Research Group – A group of professional scientists and student volunteers dedicated to undertaking fundamental and applied research on marine turtles, they invite applicants for voluntary field assistant positions in northern Cyprus.

Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles – Volunteers, preferably packing a laptop, work for a minimum of three weeks at the MEDASSET office in Athens.

National Marine Park of Alonnisos Northern Sporades – Enthusiastic, motivated individuals with an interest in environmental conservation are invited to offer volunteer work on the first designated National Marine Park in Greece, the largest in the Mediterranean. Volunteers are required to assist in the implementation of the park’s day to day management programme which includes field work and office duties.

RAM Universal Group – Study hotel management in Greece.

The Silva Project – A non profit organisation in Corfu dedicated to preserving the Skyrian horse. Volunteers work with the horses and on an organic kiwi fruit farm.

Sunrock Backpackers Resort – Located above Pelekas beach (reputed to be the best on the island) on the west coast of Corfu, this friendly family run hostel offers traditional Greek hospitality and great food from their own farm. A free pick up is available from the port and volunteer work offered to those under 25 intending to stay for longer than one month. Highly recommended.

Tethys Research Institute – A non profit NGO for the study and the conservation of the marine environment. Tethys organise whale and dolphin field courses for those who are willing to contribute to research and conservation campaigns.

WWOOF Greece – The Greek chapter of the WWOOF network has a few dozen organic farming organisations across the country.

Youth Hostel Oia – This Santorini hostel has a volunteer programme to foster a family feeling and contribute to the social atmosphere of the hostel.
