SPAIN / Sunseed Desert technology
Sunseed is based in a beautiful, tranquil village in South East Spain. We aim to develop, demonstrate and communicate accessible low-tech methods of living sustainably in a semi-arid environment. We are a UK charity and a Spanish Association.
We are a friendly international community working in inspiring surroundings, with delicious vegetarian/vegan food and relaxation time. Volunteers make a weekly contribution towards food and accommodation between 84€ and 64€ depending on hours worked and the weeks they are staying.
Short and longer-term volunteers are required year round for working, learning new skills and joining in with communal activities. Volunteers can work in areas such as: Organic Growing, Dryland Regeneration, Appropriate Technology, Eco-Construction and Maintenance, Environmental Education, Sustainable Living, Mycorrhiza Research and more.
During the week we include activities such as:
* educational seminars (on Permaculture, Thermal Mass Stove, Ethics on Food, Soils Fertility, Chemicals on products, etc..),
* specific guided tours of the different departments,
* Spanish lessons,
* solar power documentaries/cinema,
* visits to other projects,
* Open Space for share activities, etc..
Longer-term volunteering is perfect for university placements, dissertations or simply carrying out your own project and gaining experience. Funding information may be available.
Sunseed is a ideal place to visit for working holidays whether you come alone, as a group of friends or with the family.
During the free time & weekends, some volunteers & staff members arrange trips to the beach (Natural Park Cabo de Gata), excursion in the Valley and many other activities!!
