Description of role: Espere Community Counseling Center is a mental health organization in Haiti. “Espere” is the Creole word for “Hope” and each of our objectives aim to increase hope, strengthen mental health and manage individual and community challenges. Espere is built on three pillars: counseling services, community outreach (focusing on children with special needs) and mental health training and education. All have the same overall goal of improving mental health and social care in community-based settings. Each individual project contributes to this overall objective by focusing on different areas of community mental health and by offering different but complementing services. By working with the current team, volunteers can work across these projects and apply their skills/knowledge in an area in which they are best suited. Skills needed: College student or graduate in psychology, social care, or other related field of study. Motivation to work within a developing country. Adaptable and able to apply skills to different areas and projects that the organization offers.

Area of expertise: Psychology, mental health, counselling, social care, advocacy.
