THAILAND / Safari Park Volunteer Initiative

We need volunteers from all sorts of different skills backgrounds to help us achieve greater standards of animal welfare at a Safari Park near Kanchanaburi.
Participating in our Thailand Volunteer Program at the Safari Park Open Zoo is an immensely rewarding experience. You will work hard but you will also have the opportunity for close, personal interactions with our animals. No two days are the same, but a volunteer could expect a day at the park to include feeding bottle feeding leopard cubs, cleaning cages and checking for storm damage, designing and building enclosures, help take care of the dogs and exercising and washing a lion cub.
What skills are we especially looking for?
We are especially interested in utilising the skills of architects, builders and other tradesmen or craftsmen, zoo keepers, qualified TEFL teachers, those with experience in marketing, photography, graphic designers and especially vets, vet technicians and veterinary assistants. However, we often have spaces for animal lovers without qualifications who wish to get hands on experience with a variety of different animals!
What is the minimum time commitment required?
All volunteers are asked to commit for a minimum of two weeks. You are welcome to stay longer though! Please note, we are only able to accept a limited number of short term volunteers at any one time.

What are the costs involved?
All volunteers are required to pay 5600THB per week for accommodation and food costs. Anything left over is used for materials for enclosure upgrades, food for the animals and materials for projects. A discount of 25% is offered to those able to stay over a week but please let the duration of your stay be known at the application stage as refunds cannot be made at a later date. This means that for a months stay the total cost of the program is 20,000THB (not including transport costs). Flights to Thailand, insurance and immunisations are to be arranged by the volunteer. Longer term applicants will always be prioritised over those wishing to come short term and the longer you are here the more hands on experience you will gain with the animals. 30% of the donation goes towards volunteer costs such as food and amenities. 70% goes directly on the animals.
