ROMANIA / Global Vision International
Work with special needs children aged 4 and upwards whilst volunteering in Transylvania’s beautiful Carpathian Mountains in Romania, Europe. Plan and teach informal, fun and interactive classes with different activities such as art, drama and music to stimulate and feed the children’s hunger to learn. The project supports younger children through the early years of their educational lives, in a safe and caring environment and older children (up to 18) with basic conversational English, numeracy and skills to prepare their integration into society. Working with the children is extremely challenging, but very rewarding as every day is full of fun and laughter. In your free time you can discover Romania; visit Dracula’s castles, ice caves and spa towns or enjoy winter sports and summer festivals, and learn the language, culture and customs amidst the locals on the terraces.
How this program makes a difference
We have all heard of the plight of the Romanian people. Whilst standards have vastly improved over the years, help is still essential for special needs children, particularly in rural communities. This program brings the education of special needs children in line with the national curriculum schools which they due to their differences can’t attend. GVI help by providing volunteer hands-on assistance and care to give them hope for the future. Your contribution not only helps to fund the project but also assists with the supply of essential materials and equipment for the community as well as the provision of project equipment to the local partners. The hands on work and funding provided by volunteers will greatly help our local partners’ ability to keep and improve these facilities
