Volunteer with KITO International to help get youths off the streets and out of poverty – Nairobi, Kenya

KENYA / CHASE Africa

Kito International works with rehabilitated street youths, offering education to help them work their way off the streets. Based in the Congo slum of Nairobi, Kito aims to help these youths build a future of their own, rather than depending on hand outs.

Street youths are recruited from the surrounding slum, and if they pass the interview process, they are registered into the Kito training program. Here they learn life skills, entrepreneurship skills, how to manage personal finances, marketing, leadership and team building. At the end of the rigorous two month raining program, the youths work for EcoSafi – Kito’s own business where they produce environmentally friendly bags. Here they learn how to put their training into practice and get some great hands on experience running a business.

Kito really is giving street youths an amazing future – and one where they can support themselves – and once and for all get off the streets. But they are a small organisation, and in need of help from any willing volunteers.
