HONDURAS / Cofradia’s Bilingual School
Cofradia’s Bilingual School provides a high-quality, affordable bilingual education to the community of Cofradia that is not available through the local public school system. Thanks to a devoted team of internationally-recruited volunteers and locally recruited Honduran teachers, students at Cofradia’s Bilingual School receive more in-depth, expert instruction in all subject areas than would otherwise be available, as well as a unique global learning experience which both motivates and inspires.
In August of every year, a team of volunteer-teachers arrives in Cofradia to work until the end of the school year in June. These volunteers are responsible for teaching classes, organizing school functions and fundraisers, and community outreach.
Spanish-language skills are not required and, while experience in education is undoubtedly beneficial, prior teaching experience is not required to work at CBS. We value more highly motivated, passionate, and hard-working people.
Volunteer accommodation is provided free of charge in a shared room in one of our volunteer houses. Travel to/from the school and lunch is provided on school days. You will need to pay for your travel to and from Cofradia (the nearest airport is San Pedro Sula and airport pickups are provided) and any travel insurance you need. You will also need enough money to cover your living and travel expenses during your time in Cofradia. Most volunteers spend a maximum of $100 per month while they are in Cofradia, plus any travelling that they do on weekends and holidays.
We are currently looking to recruit the volunteer team for the 2013/14 school year.
We have 14 positions to fill ranging from kinder to 9th grade, and a special education specialist to provide additional support to students where required.
We also have several vacancies for the current school year, starting immediately and ending in June 2013.
