This role is crucial to the delivery, sustainability and development of the highest quality care and support for street dogs in Sri Lanka. This is a very rare opportunity to be instrumental in shaping the future of a region-wide clinical operation and care service for street dogs in the South of Sri Lanka. This is a new post and an exciting prospect for candidates with tenacity and vision looking to make an impact. Whilst coordinating the outreach & Education Programme, the post, being based in Sri Lanka, will ensure that the successful candidate enjoys the sunnier quality of life and leisure opportunities associated with the area such as surf, yoga, safari, whale watching and much more.

About Us

WECare Worldwide is a UK registered charity, set up in October 2014 and is managed on the ground in Sri Lanka by veterinary surgeon Janey Lowes. WECare Worldwide aim is to provide a high level of veterinary expertise to animals that don’t have access to any other form of healthcare. All of the expertise is delivered for FREE. Please help us on our mission.

Key Components of the Role

• Build awareness of WECare services.
• Engage community through planned engagement strategies for all ages in surrounding areas.
• Follow-up with community members as necessary to address any needs they may have.
• Coordinator WECare neuter days and work with the Marketing Manager to ensure a wide awareness of the Neuter days.
• Actively attend community events to network, build partnerships and educate in target communities
• Represent WECare and work with local hotels, cafe’s and guesthouses to build awareness of dogs as pets.
• Complete necessary data entry
• Plan, promote and implement community outreach events
• Welcome new volunteers to the team
• Be the point of contact for volunteers
• Organise volunteers for all outreach implementation.

Candidate Profile

• Ability to work with diverse staff and client population.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in a stressful environment.
• Creative problem solving.
• Negotiation skills.
• Enjoys working with people and enabling them to develop their skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in different locations.
• Ability to use website content management systems.
• High level of competence in all IT applications
• Proactive self-starter, able to work independently.
