SOUTH AFRICA / Developing Children’s Programs
Assist in setting up and running adventure programmes on a farm close to the stunning wild coast beaches in the Eastern Cape South Africa
You will learn skills like raft building, shelter building, making fires in the bush, abseiling, orienteering, survivor skills and lots more to be able to join in as an instructor on adventure camps and environmental education. You will stay on the farm in a spacious thatch house with sea views with the other volunteers. You are welcome to help work in and develop the organic garden or trails on the farm. Any talents you have: share them! On your days off you can visit the beaches, go horse riding, surfing or many other things this area has to offer. Unexplored will take you on an outing every 3 weeks. These daytrips may be a game drive or a trip into the rural Transkei to see local Xhosa living and visit the natural phenomenon of the Gates and swim in the waterfalls. Town (East London)is close by and offers everything big towns do.
You will learn survival skills, group dynamic skills, managing groups, environmental skills, orienteering, catering and lots more. You will have the opportunity to work with underpriviliged children (depending on timing of stay) and other local children. Yo will learn about the diversity of South African culture and you will generally be able to enjoy the typical African setting of the Eastern Cape in a very safe environment.
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic, pro active personality! A willingness to learn and adapt and affinity with children of all ages from different social economic background.
