Volunteer + internship opportunities in Spain

SPAIN / Sunseed Desert Project

Sunseed is based in a beautiful village in southern Spain. We aim to develop, demonstrate and communicate accessible low-tech methods of living sustainably in a semi-arid environment. We are a UK charity and a Spanish Association.

We are a friendly international low-impact community, living off-grid (limited access to mod cons) and with delicious vegetarian/vegan food. Volunteers make a weekly contribution towards food and accommodation (between 85€ and 115€ depending on length of stay).

Short and longer-term volunteers are required year round for working, learning new skills and joining in with communal activities. Volunteers can work in areas such as: Organic Growing, Dryland Regeneration, Appropriate Technology, Eco-Construction and Maintenance, Environmental Education and Sustainable Living.

During the week we include activities such as:

* seminars
* live music (jam)sessions
* bread-making
* guided tours of the different departments,
* Spanish lessons,
* film night (documentaries etc)
* visits to other projects,
* Open Space for skill-sharing

Longer-term volunteers may qualify for European funding (Erasmus, Leonardo), and may come to Sunseed as part of a university course – for research, a thesis or a dissertation.

Leisure activities here include trips to the beach (Natural Park Cabo de Gata), local trips (walking, cycling, climbing), swimming (in the local rock pools), caving and many other possibilities.
