Volunteer in different positions in a versatile indigenous Mayan organization

Description of the project:

The organization works within the Mayan Q’eqchi region, focused on developing their communities by providing access to education and healthcare as well as supporting micro-enterprise efforts. They offer a national and international recognized mixed school system which consists of a middle school, a three-year vocational high school, a rural and secondary boarding school. It focuses on learning in a rural context and practical work experience by offering internships in restaurants, hotels, NGOs and their own departments. They provide a health care system that includes a riverside, a mobile, and a dental clinic as well as a women’s health center.

Tasks:

There are different volunteer positions available:

Work as English teacher, translator or interpreter

Work as Volunteer and Group Coordinator: Coordinate the logistics of the arrival of volunteers

Work as Communications Coordinator: Maintain and update the data on the website and social media platforms

Support the Fundraising and fund management

Work schedule: flexible, but mostly from 8 a.m. to 4/5 p.m.

Vacations: Easter week, Christmas, January

Accommodation, Benefits and Costs:

Stay in a galley by the river or in a bungalow in the midst of a wonderful landscape in a protected nature conservation area

Proyecto Mosaico books your lodging, Spanish school and your transportation from the airport, furthermore we offer individual assistance provided by the office in Granada before, throughout and after your stay

For our work and our services we ask a one-time-only fee of 250 € – regardless of the length of your stay

Requirements:

Minimum stay: 6 months (depending on your volunteer position)

Spanish level: Intermediate (depending on your volunteer position)

English level: Advanced

Skills and expertise: Depending on your volunteer position, but mostly you support the professionals the best way according to your state of knowledge
