LAOS / The Bamboo School Foundation
The Bamboo School Foundation is a German non-profit charitable foundation with long lasting connections in Laos and good relations with official organs and other NGOs.
Our organisation helps to improve education and healthcare for remote villages along the Nam Ou.
We are always looking for people for various tasks
a) with experience in construction or
b) from an educational/socialworking/healthcare background
You would be working on site most of the time along with the villagers.
The circumstances up there are very rural – you will be ‘homestaying’ in a village, the closest ‘town’ with any kind of western infrastructure would be Muang Ngoi (about 2 hours by boat away, to be found in every guide book).
We try to avoid any confusion and unease for the villagers. They are not used to falang running around in their village taking photos etc… Please consider a decent length of time depending on the tasks available.
For this position you should:
– have a flexible schedule
– speak English or German
– be confident, easy going, reliable and well mannered
– know and get along with the Asian mentality
– have a certain experience/age/demeanour, that will be necessary
