MADAGASCAR / Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute
Searching for an opportunity to gain practical field experience in terrestrial conservation? Do you like the sound of living on a tropical island with secluded beaches and forests to explore? Experience life in far out places with likeminded people?
The Madagascar Research and Conservation Institute is a government approved institute undertaking environmental research for and on behalf of the Malagasy Government and our partners.
We are looking for research volunteers to help take part with the research into the species such as chameleons, lemurs, frogs, birds and snakes which are found in in the forests on Nosy Komba and surrounding islands. The project base camp site is on the island Nosy Komba, an island off the northwest coast of Madagascar. Researchers will work under the guidance of our small team who provide full training and support. It is a fantastic opportunity to apply your existing abilities and learn new skills!
The project is on-going so there is no specific deadline. Successful applications can therefore be accepted until positions are filled.
In order to participate in our project we ask volunteers to make a contribution, which covers all travel costs during your projects, full training, accommodation and meals, use of camp facilities and equipment, and a dedicated team to guide you. Whilst we can assist, you will need to cover your own pre-departure costs including flights, vaccinations and visas.
Further information about the project can be found on our webpage at www.madgascarvolunteer.com.
If you are interested in applying please email; liz@madagascarvolunteer.com to request an application form.
