Project aims
Jumanji is a large team game held throughout the camp time. The aim of the game is to win by using team efforts most effectively. Each morning starts with throwing a dice on a large game field. By moving the chip across the field the participants choose the task. The team may find itself in difficult situations, for example, lose the move, make moves back and so on. The team has to score as many points as possible within the shortest period of time.
Aims:
Give the possibility to win and to demonstrate personal qualities
Develop community feeling
Promote intercultural links;
Communicate with native speakers;
Practice spoken English;
Get rid of the communication barrier;
Apply theoretical knowledge obtained at school;
Develop communication skills.
Result: Event for parents where the children chow practical skills they developed doing different tasks. The children will speak English.
Residence/meals
Rest house (separate rooms for girls and boys).
Meals for volunteers: breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner, supper; together with children in the canteen of the rest house.
Spare time
At the discretion of the volunteers: an excursion round Kostroma, a visit to The Open Air Museum of Woodworks and to the Ipatiev Monastery, the ex-residence of the Russian Royal Family of the Romanovs and its cradle. A boat trip down the Volga is paid extra.
Fee
Requirements to volunteers: Age 18-30, nice appearance, energy, communicative skills, skills of working in a team. Experience of working with children and absence of speech defects are welcome. Ability to play a musical instrument is an advantage. We are waiting for creative personalities!
