SOUTH AFRICA BANGLADESH / Tearfund
Tearfund ICS is a 12 week government-funded overseas volunteering placement that provides the opportunity to work alongside local volunteers to tackle poverty globally.
Tearfund’s Global Volunteering Team are recruiting volunteers for our teams participating in Tearfund ICS (International Citizen Service) to depart in September 2016 or February 2017 to Bangladesh or South Africa:
Tearfund is a Christian development charity working to end poverty and social injustice in some of the poorest countries in the world through the local church.
Tearfund ICS is a 12 week, government-funded volunteer placement for 18-25 year olds (and 23-35 year olds if applying for a team leader role) that provides the opportunity to work alongside local volunteers and make a difference in communities in some of the poorest places in the world. The Tearfund programme is unique as we work closely through local church partners who have requested the help of ICS teams as part of our larger development scheme for that community. There is therefore no doubt that your contribution will make a difference.
Destinations
Placements depart throughout the year and we have two destinations: Bangladesh and South Africa. You will have the opportunity to volunteer on a range of projects tackling issues from HIV, climate change, water and sanitation, education, income generation and gender inequality by engaging in a number of activities from: teaching, construction, agriculture, sports coaching, creative arts etc
Volunteer description The great thing about the ICS placement is that you don’t need any particular skills, qualifications or cash. All you need is an ambition to make a difference! You dont have to be a christian to volunteer with us but we ask for an interest in the role faith plays in development.
