Summary: Be trained to assist the English teacher and class teachers in running the English programme at school and the adjacent church in Hong Kong.
Starting Date: 1st September 2016, to depart UK end of August 2016, until End of July 2017
Time For God is an international volunteering charity, providing opportunities across the world for community transformation. In Hong Kong, Time for God is working with kindergarten- schools. The school is a church-based institution which places a great emphasis on the spiritual growth of the children. The lessons include activities such as story-telling, phonics, games, songs, rhymes, art & crafts.
Main Duties:
– Assist the English teachers with the development of lesson plans
– Assist the English teacher with the delivery of lessons
– Assist the Class teachers with the delivery of lessons
– Assist the school in running extracurricular activities, such as school outings, seminars, workshops
– Assist the church in running English language activities for the church, such as speaking classes, play groups, usually on Saturdays and Sundays
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
– Passion for working with children
– Aged 18-26
– Native English Speaker
Desirable:
– Ideally a University graduate
– Ideally some experience/ qualification of working with children/ young people and/ or teaching (such as TESL/ TEFL qualification)
Financial Implications:
– The Trainee Teacher will be provided with free housing, including all reasonable bills
– Monthly stipend of HK$ 10,000
– 5% bonus on completion of a successful year
– Training and support before, during and after the volunteering experience in HK alongside a group of other Trainee Teachers/volunteers
– Visa related costs
Flights and insurance will need to be covered by the applicant.
