This cultural centre provides support and education to female adolescents and young women (10 to 17 years) from a disfavoured quarter (favela) of the city. It aims to stimulate creativity in different artistic areas, provide education and vocational training as well as prevention and support with female adolescent issues. The favela is located in a region recently discovered by national and international tourists (because of its great ecological attractions, good surf conditions, etc). Tourism brings benefits for the community but also generates socio-cultural problems as sex tourism, child trafficking, and drug abuse. The project seeks volunteers with skills in arts, music, theatre, teaching English, computers, sewing, handicrafts, cooking, or any other area you think would be of interest to teenagers.
The project is free but volunteers are responsible for covering their living expenses.
