MALAWI / Chigoli

Fantastic opportunity this coming summer to join one of Africa’s most forward thinking soccer organisations – Chigoli. Chigoli is a not for profit organisation based in Malawi, the warm heart of Africa.
Chigoli is looking for a soccer coach (Ideally UK FA Level 2 or above) with a commercial/entrepreneurial background to buy into our vision and assist our programmes on the ground as well as to play a role in the continued development of Chigoli. This role is varied, fulfilling and highly enjoyable for the appropriate candidate.
The role is a mixture of football coaching (at our Academy and Soccer School) and helping develop revenue streams both in country and internationally to enable growth of the organisation. Playing a key role in delivering fundraising events and our community programme are also part of the position.
Joining a highly motivated, dynamic and small team, Chigoli prides itself on creating a positive, enthusiastic and enjoyable working environment through which we change the lives of a fantastic group of gifted Malawian children.
Malawi is a sensationally beautiful country in Southern Africa, located around Lake Malawi (350km long) and the time spent here would also enable travel including Safari and Victoria Falls (at volunteers own cost).
About Chigoli:
Chigoli means ‘Goal’ and ‘Vision’ in Chichewa the main tribal dialect of Malawi. Following nearly a decade working in football development in Malawi (one of the poorest countries in the world) George Maguire teamed up with Alex Scott to found Chigoli with the mission of providing pathways out of poverty for gifted children who are born into an environment that often provides pitiful opportunities for people to better themselves. We at Chigoli believe talent deserves its chance to shine.
Chigoli has identified some of the most promising young footballers in the country and works each week to develop them in a well-resourced, professional coaching environment.

Compensation details
Whilst Chigoli is not in a position to offer a salary directly, the successful candidate will receive their return flights to Malawi, accommodation (private room in shared house of good quality) and visa costs.
Chigoli is happy to discuss commission for funds raised by the volunteer whilst on placement.
