PHILIPPINES / Kaya Responsible Travel
Volunteer on this performing arts project to inspire and bring smiles to the faces of children coming from extremely disadvantaged backgrounds in the Philippines who have been victims of serious abuse, or involved in crime at a very young age.
Due to the fact that funding for education in the Philippines is lacking, any money schools do have is channeled into essential subjects such as English and Maths, additionally, not many teachers are trained in performing arts. This means that children rarely have the opportunity to explore their creative side.
The project works with children of varying ages, from primary to young adults, to teach them dance, music and drama. Dancing, drama and music are excellent tools in helping children express themselves, gain self-confidence, and learn important social skills through interaction but proper dance or drama classes and private music lessons are very much a luxury. Additionally, if you are looking for a career in teaching or directing, this is great hand son experience for you to share your passion and test your skills. Volunteer on this performing arts project to help improve access to these invaluable creative opportunities for local disadvantaged children.
Interns will work from 08:00 – 13:00 (minimum), Monday – Friday, and have weekends free to explore or organize trips with the other volunteers with the help of the on site staff.
In the cost of the program you will get:
• Airport pick up and drop off
• On site training and orientation
• Accommodation
• Food: 2 meals per day
• Excursions: 2 field excursions are included in your visit.
