Part funded placement -Africa – HIV and AIDS awareness programme

UGANDA / ICYE UK

Are you keen to gain new skills by volunteering with an NGO overseas? Would you like to learn the local language, live with a host family and get immersed in the culture? ICYE UK send volunteers throughout Africa to work on projects that support some of the continent’s most vulnerable people.

For instance, various NGOs throughout Uganda and other countries are urgently looking for volunteers to support them in their work supporting those affected by HIV and AIDS. Activities involve offering running workshops, outreach work and counselling and many more.

Other projects vary and range from NGOs supporting street children, environmental conservation, teaching, supporting those with disabilities, women’s rights groups, Human Rights groups, sports and arts based projects and many more. ICYE UK can recommend a country / project to suit individual’s skills and interests.

ICYE UK can offer 6 and 12 month part funded voluntary placements with local NGOs throughout Latin America. With the £1500 bursary the cost of the ICYE programme is £2295 for 6 months or £2995 for 12 months. This is an all-inclusive cost (flights, accommodation, food, health insurance, visas, training, language lessons etc).

As an ethical, cultural exchange programme, volunteers live with host families and learn the local language. ICYE UK also provide extensive training, language lessons and support with fundraising within the programme fee.

Departures for long term programme are August 2011 and January 2012. Interview and application forms are necessary to apply.
