Volunteer Partnerships for West Africa (VPWA) is a volunteer-driven, non-profit NGO based in Ghana.
Women Watch International, a local partner of VPWA, has set up a program called ‘New Friends Project’. The scheme seeks to overcome cultural and racial misconceptions about both the West and Africa. This is an excellent opportunity to understand African cultures and practices.
In the sessions, volunteers, as well as local people (including children), are required to talk about their own countries and cultures.
No special skills are needed, however general requirements include:
• At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
• Good knowledge of English language
• Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
• Ability to adjust in difficult living and working conditions;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Project fee: 400 EUR per month.
Fees include:
– Accommodation and meals.
– Airport Pick Up.
– Placement
– 24 hour support contact services
– Pre-departure Orientation.
– Mobile phone SIM card number.
– Accra City tour
– Internet access (at VPWA’s HQ).
– Certificate of Recognition and an opportunity to serve as a VPWA ambassador in your city, college or community.
