Mt. Rose Ski Resort Internship, Nevada

We have a number of positions available for interns to gain hands-on experience in public land use areas, and learn the issues around recreational use of public lands, specifically within the skiing region of Mt. Rose, Nevada. 3, 6 and 10 month internship positions are available.

There are 3 internship roles available, with varying dates and durations:

1. Winter land use. Three months; December 13, 2012 to March 15, 2013.
Roles include:
– Assisting with winter operations in a Lake Tahoe, Nevada ski area
– Ski instructor for children, or
– Lift operation, or
– Parking directions

2. Winter and Spring land use:
Six months; December 13, 2012 to June 15, 2013.
– Same as above for first three months
– Assisting with trail signage in conjunction with the State of Nevada for second three months

3. Winter, Spring and Summer land use:
Ten months; December 13, 2012 to September 30, 2013
– Same as above for first six months
– Assisting with environmental restoration for the ski resort in summer months

There is a programme cost of £465 to pay to take part in the programme – which covers all food and lodging, transportation once you arrive in Reno, all equipment usage, training, orientation and back up. Interns also receive a $105 per week stipend during their stay, and a free Season ski pass at Mt. Rose, Lake Tahoe. £95 ($US150) of your fee will also be refunded to you at the end of the programme if all equipment is in order.
