ABOUT THE ROLE
HealthX have partnered with a large public hospital and health service in Queensland and are accepting applications from experienced midwives seeking opportunities across gorgeous metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a midwife within a main referral hospital. The Maternity Unit is the referral centre for all pregnant women in the district and for a small outer lying communities. As a Midwife with the unit you will provide care to women and their families within its Antenatal service, Antenatal/Postnatal Inpatient Unit, Birthing Unit, Special Care Nursery and Home Visiting program. The Unit is eight beds, with a three bed Birthing Suite and a three cot Special Care Nursery. The Nursery has CPAP and ventilator capabilities, undertaking short term respiratory support for newborns, or stabilisation before transfer to a Tertiary facility for ongoing management. The Unit has approximately 500 births per year.
CRITERIA
– Current AHPRA registration
– Confident in all areas of maternity care and have the skills to care for women with a range of risk factors
– Possess a minimum of one year post graduate midwifery practice
– Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to delegate and prioritize work load
– Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
– Experience providing clinical, patient centred-care
– Experience or background in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health would be well regarded
– Sense of adventure

Note: These positions are not open to new or recent graduates and the successful candidates must have a minimum of 12 months experience in an acute setting (in Australia or a similar healthcare system).
