BOLIVIA / Bolivian Express
The Bolivian Express is an English language magazine set up by Bolivian graduates in collaboration with students around the world. We offer the chance to gain experience in the field of journalism whilst exploring Bolivian culture.
Our journalism internship provides interns with a range of opportunities, including the chance to write for our magazine, be under our team’s guidance, and the possibility to attend classes in Spanish, magazine design, photography and film. Participants are paired with Bolivians in La Paz and are then expected to explore an aspect Bolivian culture, eventually producing four pages of content for our magazine each month.
This content is then passed to our editors who provide feedback and suggestions to develop our interns’ writing skills. Interns acquire journalistic experience throughout the creative process of the article: from going out to the streets, institutions and archives of La Paz to investigate, interview and observe, to condensing this information into a lively commentary, and finally having the chance to be part of the design process of the publication.
In the past we’ve published articles on Bolivian advertising, Bolivian fashion trends and varieties, and how the World Cup is broadcast and celebrated in Bolivia. Our magazine is distributed on the ground, in the skies and online, and has been featured on Bolivian television.
We believe that our internship is ideal for students and graduates wishing to gain experience in the field of journalism, enabling them to develop a variety of skills – writing, designing, and photography, amongst much more – whilst meeting Bolivian people and learning about Bolivian culture.
