MADAGASCAR / Azafady
Due to Madagascar being geographically isolated for 80 million years, it is now home to an astonishing variety of plant and animal species, the majority of which aren’t found anywhere else on Earth.
This programme provides the opportunity to explore this rare ecosystem and its sandy beaches while providing support and assistance to one of the world’s most vulnerable populations; Madagascar is one of the world’s most humanly impoverished countries. The results of the 2014 census showed two thirds of the population still lived in rural areas with limited access to education, clean water and nutrition.
By contributing merely two weeks (or longer) of your time you can have a truly significant and meaningful impact on the Malagasy community; together with our organization and this programme you will be providing Malagasy natives with the opportunity to work in more efficient, sustainable livelihoods. This programme is unique because you will experience Madagascar and its cultures in its true, natural form. You will be integrated into the rural communities of native Madagascans while living along other volunteers from various backgrounds who share the same ideals. You will be encouraged throughout the programme and given regular feedback on your development as you work towards your career, study or personal goals.
