Head Chef on tropical island

Got a sense of adventure and love to be creative? We are looking for a Head Chef to showcase their talents at our island hideaway, hotel and retreat center on a beautiful Caribbean island.

About us: – Yemaya Hideaway and Spa features tropical gardens, an international fusion restaurant, beach bar, spa and stylish suites with ocean views. We are located at the northern tip of Little Corn Island, 70km from mainland Nicaragua on a postcard perfect beach.

For this position we are looking for an enthusiastic and confident individual someone who is pro-active, hard working and a team player, has a passion for excellence in hospitality to provide our guests with an inspirational experience.

Experience/Requirements:
Ideally have a minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior position in a similar environment
A clear and concise communicator
Ability to motivate a team, leading by example
Can create a strong sense of belonging within a great place to work
Enjoys playing a hands on role with a positive, assertive attitude
Creative, patient and customer oriented
Fluent in English. Spanish is beneficial but not essential

Key Accountabilities:
Ensure the kitchen is managed effectively on a daily basis while supervising service and ensuring the food is consistently delivered to the highest standards
Create daily menus reflecting seasonal produce, utilizing our own half-acre garden with a focus on seafood and vegetarian/vegan dishes
In charge of ordering and purchasing all food items, menu costing and kitchen profitability.
Training and empowering kitchen staff and ensuring effective communication is in place between the Kitchen and Front of House team to assist with achieving the highest levels of service
Member of the management team of the hotel reporting to the General Manager
