Full time Governess/Governor required for G10 & B7, located in Zambia, $2000 per month. Start ASAP
A lovely British family residing in Zambia is seeking an adventurous, energetic, enthusiastic Governess/Governor to teach and mentor their two oldest children. As a governess/governor you will be responsible for educating the children following the British curriculum. This includes all core subjects. You will be responsible for undertaking lessons following the curriculum, plans and materials already in place and ensuring their work is sent back to the UK for marking and assessments.
The children have previously been homeschooled by their mother following the British curriculum. The two younger siblings will continue to be homeschooled by their parents and your responsibility will be with the oldest two.
Both children are keen learners. B7 shows signs of dyspraxia, dyslexia and ADD although no diagnosis has been made.
In addition to teaching duties the candidate will be required to spend time with the children in the afternoon, escort them to and from extra curriculum afternoon activities, play and interact with them and occasionally provide proxy parenting.
The children’s schedule is from 7.30am – 12.30pm for formal classes and extra curriculum classes such as cricket, horse riding, tennis etc. in the afternoon.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in private households. A teaching certificate is preferred however the family is open to candidates who have previously tutored children following the British curriculum but do not hold a PGCE. Special needs experience would be beneficial.
This position is set in a beautiful location in Zambia. The families main business is farming and holiday lodges. Wildlife is in abundance – a love of animals, nature and a sense of adventure is desirable.
The candidate needs to be confident in living in rural areas, independent, mature in their personality yet energetic, able to drive and preferable first aid trained.
This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse into a new culture; volunteer opportunities are available with local children and /or wildlife along with travel within Zambia to the game reserves with the family.
Working schedule will be 5 days per week. Monday – Friday.
The family home is fully staffed with housekeeper and cook.
This is a live out position with a private 1-bed cottage provided within the large secure homestead.
