This is a voluntary role to allow the Fundraising Intern to gain experience in all aspects of a successful UK-based International Development charity. It will often require personal assistance to members of the Otford office team.
We aim to improve quality of life for terminally ill patients in SE Europe, working through country partners in Romania, Moldova and Serbia. Our hospices seek to improve provision of palliative care services and training of medical personnel.
OUTLINE of possible areas of work. Current areas of focus first.
Administration – production of materials: posters, invitations, flyers, programmes
Donor management, including database entry, events management, mailings
Events fundraising, planning and arrangements
PR support
Research potential donors and fundraising opportunities
Social Media fundraising – Facebook, Twitter etc.
Telephone enquiries
Website – updating, development & coordination with Group sites
Accounts – support as appropriate
Hospitality for office guests
IT
Liaison with and support of the charity’s Trading Company (19 shops)
Liaison with country partners
Medical supplies and shipping
Travel, meeting and venue arrangements

WORKING HOURS:
Hours of work are flexible between 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with up to an hour’s break for lunch. Interns may be interested to participate in the charity’s occasional events outside these hours.
TERMS:
The internship will be for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months, working at least 3 days a week. As per the Volunteer Agreement, the role may be brought to a conclusion by either side, ideally with reasonable notice.
This is a volunteer role, and as such there is no contract, no employment relationship or obligation placed on the intern.
Travel expenses, and a lunch allowance (max. £3) will be covered, for which receipts will be required.
Volunteers with access to the Otford Tea Rooms below the office are entitled to a discount of 50% on meals, and free coffee or tea.
