Trinity College London Certificate in TESOL (CertTESOL). For those wishing to enter the ELT industry. Cambridge equivalent – CELTA.
NCFE Diploma in Education & Training (DET). Leading to Qualified Teaching and Learning Status (QTLS) – equivalent of PGCE for post-16 sector.
Work produced for CertTESOL contributes to DET and vice versa, meaning 2 qualifications on leaving programme.


Part-time over an academic year.


Via workshops attended virtually or in person. Individual progress reviews and TP observation. Additional material on Moodle.


• 14 experiential assignments.
• 1 written examination.
• 1 professional discussion with Examiner.
• 8 hours teaching practice observations


• GCSE (Grade A-C) Maths. Non-negotiable, may be obtained between application and programme start.
• You must not already hold PGCE, DET or similar
• A-Level equivalent / degree preferable
• UK/ National or naturalised


Regular submission of assignments.
Attendance at weekly virtual workshops (time TBC) – 2 hours
100 hours Face to face/virtual practicum teaching learners of English over two years (circa 1-2 hours per week) with LT&D as regular weekly slot or full block days (e.g every second month)
You may work elsewhere while undertaking the practicum.


As well as 2 qualifications, you will also receive:
-On-programme payments for assignments, £100 each.
-Completion payment in recognition of 100 hours practicum, £2500
-Payment for one attempt at the relevant examinations.
-Fee to the Society for Education & Training (mandatory to obtain QTLS)
-Support in applying for QTLS
-Option to attend 2-week work experience in Hungary (flights & accommodation provided)
