Grassroots Volunteering in Switzerland
The organisations listed below have either got in touch with us to add their details to this or another of our websites, or we otherwise have reason to believe they are actively looking for international volunteers and charge reasonable or no fees to join in, live and work with them:
Bergwald Projekt
www.bergwaldprojekt.ch
The Mountain Forest Project sets a signal against the destruction of the mountain forest, contributes actively to its preservation and arranges for volunteers to be able to experience first hand this fascinating ecosystem. Possible tasks include the construction of trails, bulkheads, protections and fences against wildlife browsing, tending of the forest, planting, or clearing. German and French are the languages spoken on these projects.
Where: Wooded and mountainous locations around the country.
Accommodation & Costs: Meals and simple lodging in alpine or forest cabins, or perhaps tents, is available. Free to participate.
ICVolunteers
www.icvolunteers.org
ICVolunteers works with organisers to help plan, host, interpret and report on non profit conferences. Jobs for volunteers can include welcoming delegates, badge distribution, answering general inquiries, preparing conference rooms and assisting the delegates with their presentations. Translation, journalism, and admin interns may also be required.
Where: Most conferences in Switzerland are held in Geneva.
Accommodation & Costs: Volunteers pay for their own expenses, including accommodation.

Other Opportunities to Volunteer in Switzerland
Our last information for the Volunteer Group of Italian Switzerland is a little out of date but it is possible they are still organising affordable one week long community service workcamps between June and September.
The Ironman sporting event takes place across the world, and when in Switzerland volunteers are recruited here, or see their Facebook page.
