Grassroots Volunteering in Morocco
The organisations listed below have either got in touch with us to add their details to this or another of our websites, or we otherwise have reason to believe they are actively looking for international volunteers and charge reasonable or no fees to join in, live and work with them:
Moroccan Animal Aid
www.moroccoanimalaid.com
After beginning as worried individuals helping out the local street dogs of Taghazout, MAA are now a team of volunteers, rescuing and rehabilitating over 60 animals. If you are here for a few weeks or even a few years, they could do with your help and time. The daily routine includes cleaning. medicating and feeding the animals, with much of the activity centring abound dog walking in the mountains, broken up at a resting point in the middle with views to the ocean and village. Flight volunteering is also possible.
Where: Taghazout.
Accommodation & Costs: Volunteers should be self funding.
Association des Chantiers de Jeunesse
www.acjmo.weebly.com
Though their website was a couple of years out of date when we looked their Facebook page is better maintained so they are still a going concern despite appearances. When they got in touch with us they were looking for volunteers to teach either English or French but activities at other workcamps include painting schools and environmental protection.
Where: Various locations.
Accommodation & Costs: The camp they told us about cost €150 and covered accommodation and food with a host family. Camps are for between two and four weeks.
Hostel Work Exchanges
Funky Fes Hostel looks to still be around, which is a good thing for us as they are said to be mainly staffed by volunteers. Riad Verus told us they take on volunteers through Worldpackers. V&D Tamraght Surfers Hostel is another possibility, though we note the work with us page they used to have on their website is gone. Perhaps, like the hostel did itself, it will be back in better times.

Other Opportunities to Volunteer in Morocco
The Anouar Association is a philanthropic foundation that aims to alleviate poverty. They were seeking a volunteer English teacher when they got in touch with us they have many other volunteer roles available, from agricultural experts and medical assistants to coders, web developers and interpretors.
Many surf camps dot Morocco’s blustery Atlantic coast. Though not all mention it on their websites we’ve seen Wave & Dance, Sandy Camps, Aloha Surfcamp and Yalah Surf Camp advertising for volunteers, and not just for instructors. Digital creatives are especially in demand. Most of these, and several more, will also use the work exchange networks to hire. Surf Paradise Morocco may be worth a try too. We haven’t seen them advertising but they do make mention of volunteers on their terms and conditions page.
Yoga practitioners will find Morocco a good place to look for work for stay opportunities too. A few jobs, including paid, are listed on https://www.yogatraveljobs.com/job-region/morocco/.
