Grassroots Volunteering in Cyprus
The organisations listed below have either got in touch with us to add their details to this or another of our websites, or we otherwise have reason to believe they are actively looking for international volunteers and charge reasonable or no fees to join in, live and work with them:
Cyprus Pride House
www.cypruspridehouse.org
June and Michael moved to Cyprus from England in June 2002 with the intention of relaxing in the sun. Instead, they have rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over a thousand abandoned and abused cats and dogs and also run a programme of neutering and feeding street cats and dogs. They got in touch with us to say they are desperate for voluntary help. Cleaning, feeding, dog walking, gardening, cat cuddling, and general cat and dog care are the order of the day here and, while they prefer someone who has worked in a shelter before or with a veterinary background they consider all volunteers. Checking their website for our last update, June is now alone, in even more desperate need of help and, despite serious personal concerns, still putting her animals first.
Where: In the Troodos Mountains near Limassol.
Accommodation & Costs: A bedroom and private bathroom are available in the home of June and Michael but volunteers cover their own expenses including food and drinks.
Refugee Support

The only skill you need to help out here is a smile and be aged over 21. You’ll be serving people with essential items in their Dignity Market, which is run in the style of a shop, allowing refugees and asylum seekers to choose what they want from a weekly budget of points. Current volunteering dates are listed on their website. Refugee support is also active in Chisinau, Moldova.
Where: Nicosia.
Accommodation & Costs: Volunteers should be self funding. They can offer cheap accommodation for €15 a night in Nicosia.
