Experienced Horse Riding opportunity in New Zealand

NEW ZEALAND / Shelley Churchill, Endurance Competitor and Horse Dentist

Great opportunity for an enthusiastic rider who would like to explore and ride in New Zealand commencing September/October 2012 onwards. This is unpaid but accommodation and all meals are provided in return for an average of 3 hours a day helping out and riding my Arabian endurance horses. We have excellent off-road riding, across mountains, through valleys, along ridge lines and some amazing views. This would suit someone in their 20s/30s who can drive and plans to get their own transport as public transport is non-existent where we are based.

I am looking for someone who can help out for at least 3 months to bring on my two young mares (5 yrs). Both have been backed and ridden out, but need bringing on. I want someone who is happy and keen to undertake ground work and ride the youngsters out by themselves, compete in Endurance rides, and join me on beach and bush rides.

You do not need to have prior experience in endurance riding, as this can all be taught and you will be competing with me, but you must be confident working with and bringing on young horses. You must be a self-starter, trust-worthy and enthusiastic about horse riding.

We are flexible and friendly, based in an idyllic country spot. We have a modern and relaxed spacious barn home which we share we our household pets. You will have a bright airy double room with your own TV/DVD, desk and lovely views across the paddocks and hills. The farm is a rural small holding which is 6km East of Urenui and about 25 min drive North of New Plymouth in North Island.

If you are interested please email me with some pictures of you riding and an outline of your riding experience.
