Position: English Speaking Assistant
Location: Terengganu, Malaysia
Start Date: July 2014
Salary: 1000 MYR a month
Contract: 1 year
Requirements:
No teaching qualifications or experience required, however some experience working with children is a bonus.
Package:
Flights to and from Malaysia reimbursed upon completion of contract
Accommodation allowance – 150 MYR
Transport Cover – 100 MYR
Communication allowance – 50 MYR

About the program:
This program is a Government funded initiative that aims to improve the general standards of training English language teachers in Malaysia, in order to raise the standard of English learning from kindergarten through to University level and to narrow the ability gap between the cities and the rural towns. You will work closely with Malaysian teachers as well as English Language Professionals and Consultants who advise and mentor schools on English language teaching.
About the location:
There are a number of these positions available all over coastal Terengganu on the East Coast of Malaysia. The schools you will be mentoring are in small villages and towns set against stunning backdrops, where there is plenty of adventure to be had. Surfing, diving, relaxing on a holiday island, trekking, visiting elephant sanctuaries or admiring the architecture are just a few things that are available. ESAs are placed in groups along with other expat assistants, advisors, mentors and managers so there will always be a network of support.
Curriculum and teaching:
You will receive an induction alone with other assistants that will inform you fully about the expectations of the role and the aims of the program. Your main responsibility will be to assist the teacher in the teaching of the English language, and be on hand to help improve fluency.
