This vacancy is for an experienced English language teacher with a sense of adventure and desire to make a big difference in the lives of many teachers and students across rural Malaysia. Positions are to mentor a selection of English teachers across 5 schools, helping with curriculum development, lesson planning and delivery, and improving the general standard of English language teaching and learning in small communities.
POSITION: English Language Professional Mentor
LOCATION: Malaysia – Johor; Kelantan; Terengganu; Negeri, Sembilan; Pahang
START DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY: Rm7,000 a month
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: MUST hold either a CELTA or Trinity CERT, must also have at least 3+ years of language teaching, some experience of primary aged children, MUST hold full driving licence
CONTRACT DURATION: 2 years
PACKAGE: Flights at the start and end of the contract, Company car for the duration. Accommodation allowance of rm750 a month, Travel allowance of rm450 a month, Communications allowance of rm150 a month, Healthcare (clinical cover and hospitalisation cover, Visas provided
OTHER BENEFITS: Annual performance related bonus, Contract completion bonus of up to 25% of total salary earned.
ABOUT THE SCHOOLS: This program is a Government funded initiative that has been awarded to 3 education companies, of which our client is one. The aim is to increase the general teaching and learning of the English language across Malaysia and to narrow the gap between the cities and the rural towns. The program is well managed and you will receive support from your co-workers who are present in the same state, as well as an expat project manager and a local project co-ordinator who will be there to assist and direct you in anyway necessary. Promotion is readily available in this company, with most moving onto becoming English Language Consultants (salary rm10,000) after this 2 year placement, and then onto project managers or higher.
ABOUT THE LOCATIONS: There are a number of these positions available all over Malaysia, in stunning locations such as the beaches of the East Coast, the highlands where tea and strawberries are grown, or the towns surrounding some of Malaysia’s jungles and oldest national parks. The schools you will be mentoring are in small villages and towns set against stunning backdrops, where there is plenty of adventure to be had. Surfing, diving, relaxing on a holiday island, trekking, visiting elephant sanctuaries or admiring the architecture are just a few things that are available. With your company car you have the freedom to explore not just your local area, but all that Malaysia has to offer.
CURRICULUM AND TEACHING: You are provided with a concise guide to the program which will provide support, as well as resources and an online space for sharing ideas and innovations with other mentors.
