SOUTH AFRICA / Africa Project

Participants gain unrestricted access to a natural reserve spanning 11,000 hectares (26 000 acres). African wildlife is free roaming, including the Big 5.

Week 1 & 2

• Dangerous Game Approach Methods
• Animal Track and Sign
• Animal Behaviour
• Bush Survival
• Geology
• Botany
• Ecology
• Astronomy
• Wildlife Ethics
• Venomous Snakes
• Biomes Southern Africa

Week 3 & 4

Reserve conservation projects (subject to data collection needs and environmental factors) –

• rhino behaviour research
• elephant habitat utilization

An interest in terrestrial wildlife conservation is needed. Applicants with wildlife management, zoology, biology, ecology and conservation experience are given placement preference. Participants need to be at least 18 years of age when they attend the program.

Participants pay a monthly program fee.
