Drylands Management Coordinator

Sunseed Desert Technology is currently recruiting a volunteer Drylands Management(DM) Coordinator to start on November 2011. Sunseed is a British project based in Spain, which aims to develop, demonstrate and communicate accessible, low-tech methods of living sustainably in a semi-arid environment.

Through observation of natural ecosystems, the Dryland Management (DM) department aims to understand the process of succession, degradation and development of soil, flora and fauna and attempts to formulate land-management policies from these.

We aim to develop and demonstrate a long-term land use approach considering dryland techniques traditional both to this area in Spain and to other semi-arid regions; we attempt to incorporate academic research with a practical and realistic land-management strategy.

Commitments to promoting low-impact living; excellent organisation and communication skills are essential. Good English is also essential and good Spanish is especially desirable. One esssential requirement for this position is to be at least 25 years old and hold a full clean EU driver’s license
