We are seeking a volunteer coordinator for our Communication and Education department. This position is at least 1 year long, provides food and housing onsite and offers a small weekly stipend to cover personal expenses. You will be part of a vibrant international community in a small Andalucian village, where we live and work together towards a more sustainable future.
The Communicaion and Education (CE) Co-ordinator is responsible for developing the public face of Sunseed Desert Technology to volunteers, local schools, potential donors, the media and other organisations. The job involves ensuring that the information we put out is consistent and attracts new people to visit and fund the project. The postion also works with developing the educational aspects of our organization in conjuction with our other coordinators. The work is diverse and wide ranging and includes scope for new ideas and input depending on the skills and knowledge of the co-ordinator. The CE co-ordinator works with all other department co-ordinators to ensure that the information on our website, in our leaflets and on site is accurate and fully up to date.
Essential Skills, abilities and knowledge
-Previous experience in some or all of: environmental education; marketing; publicity; journalism; web design and/or fundraising
-Excellent organisational abilities including the ability to prioritise own workload
-Excellent written and spoken English and capacity to speak and understand Spanish.
-Good computer skills including Word, email, internet and the ability to quickly learn new software packages
-Ability to manage volunteers
-Adaptability – office facilities on the project are basic and all computers are shared and use can be limited in winter by power shortages
