Cloud Forest Conservation & Sustainability Programme, Ecuador

Volunteers are needed for participation in a programme to help conserve part of the Cloud forest, Ecuador. The project is located in La Hesperia biological reserve in the Western Andes.

There are four different programmes available:

-Cloudforest conservation – this includes tree planting, trail work and data collection

-Sustainability Programme – this includes sustainable living, resource and food production

-Social/education programme – involves working at La Hesperia school (requires some Spanish)

– A shorter, 2-week travelling, volunteering and learning programme, for volunteers with limited travel time who still wish to meaningfully contribute

Dates:

Most placements will last for 4-8 weeks, from Oct 2011-June 2012, however We are also happy to accept volunteers for 2 weeks up to 3 months at any time during the year.

Volunteer requirements:

-Should be aged 18+

-Should have a strong interest in conservation

-Spanish speaking not necessary but would help, classes are available
to take on arrival

– Should be physically fit

Cost:

The cost for 4 weeks is 495 GBP and for 8 weeks is 750 GBP, which covers all programme costs, including all food (3 meals a day), lodging in cabins that are shared with other volunteers and researchers, project materials, all training and supervision by project manager, WorkingAbroad Projects backup and placement support, and so on.
