PERU / Latin American Foundation for the Future
Latin American Foundation for the Future (LAFF) are looking for Spanish-speaking volunteers to come and work with us in Peru and Bolivia.
Working with LAFF’s International Projects Manager, you would spend 2-3 days a week working directly with LAFF on things like researching, updating the website in Spanish fundraising, developing reports and 2-3 days a week working directly with one of our project partners helping them to build capacity and become sustainable to continue their valuable work in the future. LAFF responds to needs on the ground so your work is likely to be varied, interesting and really helping where it is needed.
In today’s economic climate work experience and valuable volunteering is very important. This is the perfect opportunity for people wanting to improve their Spanish language skills and get into the charity or international development sector, but also for those wanting a meaningful experience which will show future employers dedication, independence, flexibility and leadership skills.
LAFF is looking for self-starters who take the initiative and have a desire to help alleviate poverty in the world. As LAFF is a small team and we only have one member of staff based in Latin America candidates need to be motivated, independent, dedicated and already speak a good level of Spanish.
LAFF expects volunteers to take their work as seriously as they would a paid job, working 5 days a week and requesting any holidays in advance.
LAFF accepts volunteers for a minimum period of 3 months – there is no maximum!
LAFF expects volunteers to raise a minimum of £3,000 in order to work with us for a year. This goes towards our direct project support in Latin America to help children’s homes become self-sustaining and to provide vocational training for children in their care to be able to access employment.
Volunteers are expected to cover all their own costs. Living costs vary depending on where you are based and will roughly total between £35 and £90 a month for accommodation, plus around £15 a week for basic food. Maximum daily travel costs to projects 40p a day. Return flights to Peru/Bolivia usually cost around £800. This makes a maximum total of around £5,600 – cheaper than living in the UK or Europe for a year!
To apply please contact us on info@laffcharity.org.uk sending your CV and a cover letter detailing why you would be a suitable candidate.
