The Malvina House Hotel is the Falkland Islands Premier Hotel, offering 35 bedrooms, 120 cover restaurant and lounge bar. The hotel has received substantial investment and development to improve the product and services we offer, planned developments are a 37 bedroom extension opens early 2017 and a residents lounge and cinema in 2018.
We are looking for an Assistant Manager with at least 2 years previous experience in a management role within a hotel environment and with food and beverage service.
This is a hand’s on position, supporting the General Manager with the overall running of the hotel and restaurant. Also when required by the Restaurant Manager assisting the restaurant during some service periods. It’s a small team, like most things on the islands people need to be flexible in their duties and responsibilities.
An energetic person is required, with personality, and high levels of customer care, an eye for detail, whilst delivering an efficient, professional and friendly service.
You must be able to lead/motivate a team, be highly motivated and commercially minded, be a good communicator and put the customer first.
As the hotel is expanding/offering more facilities services, not only to its residents but also the local community, this is a great opportunity for personal development.
Please note that it will be a lifestyle change, though the Falklands are similar to the UK, it is a different culture with a close community feel within a small population in a remote location. It is recommended that you research the Islands along with the hotel.
Two year contract good basic salary plus bonus after completing two years’ service, accommodation provided (utilities chargeable), yearly return flights to the UK or equivalent.
